Worship through music

Music is an important part of the worship experience. At McGregor Presbyterian Church, we offer opportunities for everyone to get involved. If you are interested in being part of the musical life of our church, please read below to learn more about our choirs and other music opportunities.

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir is led by Joy Ackerman, who serves as McGregor’s dedicated music director and organist. All adults are welcome to participate in McGregor's music ministry by joining this choir.

Practice: Wednesdays, 7:30-8:45 p.m., in McGregor Hall

Sundays, 10:30 a.m., in the sanctuary

The Adult Choir is happy to add new voices at any time. Please contact Joy Ackerman at jpackerman@att.net or (803) 414-0479 for more information.

Children's Choirs

Children’s Choirs are active during the school year for all children 4 years old through fifth grade. These choirs perform during some worship services and even accompany the Adult Choir at times. Children's Choir activities are designed for specific age groups, which meet weekly on Sunday evening. We encourage all children who love music and singing to join us as we learn to lift our voices in song to worship God.

Soloists and instrumentalists

We are thankful to have many talented musicians in our church family, and we enjoy many different musical styles. While we feature the piano and organ regularly in our worship services, we often call on musicians gifted on other instruments to help provide music to enhance our worship experience. It is not unusual to hear piano, organ, guitar, trumpet, violin, drum, and flute music all in one service! We are also blessed by vocalists who share their beautiful voices in special anthems and lead us in song during worship.
