Economic Justice: Equipping Clergy and Others for Economic Justice Advocacy
McGregor hosted the South Carolina Christian Action Council’s conference on “Economic Justice: Equipping Clergy and Others for Economic Justice Advocacy.”
Speakers at the conference included Sekinah Hamlin (pictured on the left), Center for Responsible Lending, who helped raise our awareness of predatory lenders in our neighborhoods who help create cycles of poverty for individuals and families. She was joined by Briana Kemp and Rev. Charles Rhodes (pictured in the center) representing the South Carolina Poor Peoples Campaign who told stories of people across our state who experience various levels of poverty. They also pointed out ways local communities can mobilize support for individuals and families who struggle economically.
The Plenary Speaker was Rev. Dr. Willie Gable (pictured on the right), from Progressive Baptist Church in New Orleans and the Chair of the National Faith and Credit Roundtable.
This conference gathered clergy and faith leaders from all over the state of South Carolina to engage with issues of economic justice. McGregor was proud to be a host to such an important event.
